The Bryndir Family

The Bryndir Cardigans are adored, spoiled, and watched over by Diana, Richard and Quin McLamore. Diana is a registered massage therapist who practices in a small 3-person office called Advanced Skin Care. She shares office space with an aesthetician, Nancy Scott, and a nail technician, Holly Garcia. Diana's husband, Richard is a tenured American Literature professor at McMurry University and an avid cyclist.  Quin, Richard's son, is a very bright elementary school student and hopes to one day create a winning agility team with his bitch, Sparx.

Diana and Richard have been married since March 2000. They share the same tattoo - an engagement tattoo rather than a traditional ring. The tattoo, which features 2 Cardigan Welsh Corgis, is a piece of original Celtic artwork designed by Elizabeth Danforth. Liz is Cardigan owner and fantastic artist who graciously agreed to allow us to use her business card design (slightly modified - simplified) for a tattoo. Richard's and Diana's wedding bands are also of Celtic design and symbolism created by John Urban in Quebec, Canada.

Not ever having written any books, apart from copying Bibles, the Celts developed ways of using visual symbols to tell a story. Accordingly the components of this image, stylized Irish wolfhounds, are the vocabulary, and the way they are used becomes the grammar of the message.  As symbols for the highest kind of love, the wolfhounds here are tightly holding onto each other's bodies with their mouths, implying intimacy, with a mutually strong passion for remaining together.

Featuring four stylized Irish wolfhounds, which represent the qualities of dogs - the qualities of faithfulness, unconditional love, and trust. Four represents several things: the four directions of the compass, the four seasons, and the four classical elements. I would read this pattern to mean, "Wherever you go, to the North, South, East, or West; whenever you go; (whatever the season is), and whatever you are going through (on land, water, through the air, or fire (through troubles), remember; you are connected."

The Breeder, Diana McLamore

Diana shows the Bryndir Cardigans in AKC-sanctioned events mostly in the state of Texas and in the Southwest region of the USA and, as often as possible, at the yearly Cardigan Welsh Corgi Club of America (CWCCA) National Specialty Dog Show. The location of the CWCCA National Specialty is moved around the United States to make it convenient for as many people as possible who live on opposite coasts to attend the show.

Diana graduated from Beavercreek High School (near Dayton, OH) and moved with her family to Texas in the early 1980s. Diana's formal education began with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas.  She intended to get a BS in Animal Science and then attend Veterinary School. Somewhere along the way (in her Junior year :-), she had a change of heart and switched her degree plan to English/Technical Writing. Although she changed her major, she is thankful for the education she received in genetics, anatomy, biology, animal breeding, animal nutrition, and animal husbandry. All of that knowledge has proven to be very useful in her dog breeding program.

Although presently horseless, Diana has ridden and trained horses since junior high school. Her Arabian mare, Classic, who was but a yearling when she bought her, was her high-school 4-H project. Diana broke, trained, and showed Classic in halter (conformation), hunt seat (English), saddle seat, show jumping, and 3-day eventing. Diana continued riding and training horses through college. She was a member of the Texas A&M Equestrian Team, Horse Judging Team, and the Alpha Zeta Agricultural Honor Society. Diana has since turned her attention to dog breeding and showing. She dreams one day of owning a horse again.

Before moving to Abilene, Texas, Diana lived and worked in Austin, Texas for more than 15 years as a technical writer writing user manuals, service guides, and technical articles for Lightwave Research, Apple Computer, Dell Computer, and Cisco Systems.

Since "retiring" from her technical writing career, Diana has acquired two Massage Therapy diplomas from The Lauterstein-Conway Massage School (TLC) in Austin, Texas for completing both the 300-hour training coursework, required by the state of Texas, and an additional 250-hours of advanced massage therapy training. Since her graduation from TLC, she has taken many massage therapy workshop training courses and now has a total of more than 900 hours of massage training. Diana is a professional member of the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA). She practices in a small 3-person office in Abilene called Advanced Skin Care.
