Week 10 Report
The puppies love to play outside in the mornings. Their
favorite activity is "wading" (i.e. splashing about) in their
kiddie pool. This is the same pool in which they were born and spent the
first few weeks of their lives. Dumbledog is especially fond of splashing
and then rolling in the dirt or crawling into the sandbox. His new owners
are going to have to teach him where the steps are to get out of their
swimming pool, as I suspect he may try to jump in for a swim at the first
sight of the pool.
The puppies also got a visit from our new human baby,
Sean, who is 3 weeks old today. Sean liked the puppies for a while until
they wanted to play like puppies do (nibbling, scratching, etc.). That
made Sean cry and the visit was over. Sean does not mind the sounds of
dogs barking and roughhousing. He sleeps through it all.
This week all the pups got their ears taped, even Murphy
whose ears were coming up nicely. Murph's ears were a bit folded in the
middles, so I decided (to be fair to all the pups) that his ears would be
taped also. The puppies do pull at each other's "ear hats" when
they are out in the yard playing, so they look a bit dirty already. I plan
to leave the ear tape on for a week, if they don't manage to pull it off
one another first. After a week, I will remove the tape and see how well
the ears are standing on their own. If the ears appear to be doing well, I
will not put on a new "ear hat." If they look like they are in
need of more bracing, I will tape them for another week.
